Orion Systems Remote SNMP
Management Services. Development and deployment of a SNMP remote
monitoring service. The service is a PERL based application, currently
running as a Window NT Service. The service extracts traffic statistics
from Orion’s, Cisco infrastructure of routers and switches, and various
other SNMP compliant devices such as servers, hubs, and power supplies.
The service outputs in real-time as an HTML-based, internet, reporting
application to all Orion Systems network customers.
-
Orion Systems IP presence
monitoring and customized notification Services. Development and

1993 TRW Corporation & California State Department
Justice
In 1994 Envirotech teamed up
with the the TRW Corporation on the State of California, Department of
Justice SAIN project to deliver network training to the managers in the
Bureau of Forensic Services (BFS) on the design, and management of local
and wide area networks. As a relatively new technology within the State
of California, these members needed to be trained on the complexities and
relationships in electronic information, the physical infrastructure of
its delivery and routing (OSI Model), and the management issues arising
from enterprise network expectations and requirements. Building network
policies, streamlining user platforms, and building monitoring systems to
insure performance and security requirements, were the focus of the
three-week course. The four-section course included lectures on policies
and guidelines related to
-
Data-centers, physical nodes, and
protocols
-
Protocol transfer
-
Security & Authentication
-
Pro-active systems and services
management concepts

1993 Centrifuge Research
- 1993 brought Envirotech the opportunity to contribute to Dr. Uwe
Shaflinger's development in centrifuge design at the Institute of
Fluid Dynamics & Heat Transfer at the
Technical University Wien. Envirotech Constructed a digital
image studio to record and track particle behavior during sedimentation
within a centrifuge with a variety of chamber shapes. The studio
included three axis mounted digital cameras, a strobe light, and a
timing mechanism to synchronize chamber location with image plane.
Fascinating research was conducted as different shaped centrifuge
chambers effected multi-shaped particles of different sizes.

-
1992 Remote Networking
Services
- In 1992 Envirotech developed remote networking services for
automated core drawing services. Onsite drill tailings and core
samples were observed and noted on an IBM PCJr. The PCJr utilized
a 300 b/s modem to transfer data to a remote AutoCAD system that plotted
and documented the drilling process in real-time.

-
1991 Envirotech transition to
Information Systems
- In 1991 Envirotech transitioned to computer based statistical
services, and the generation of graphic models based on data analysis
and presentation. Envirotech was generating the earliest contour
maps with AutoCAD and GIS. Additionally, statistical applications
were utilized for the generation of three-dimensional surfaces and meshs.

1989 Envirotech Consultants Established
- 1989 a sole proprietorship was started by Stephen Engel, to
meet the needs of short term opportunistic ventures in the environmental
assessment and remediation services for several Sacramento based
geological investigation and engineering companies. Stephen
performed onsite sampling of soil and groundwater at several
contaminated sites in Northern California.
